When your boiler is working efficiently and running as it should, you will enjoy low energy bills and have a home environment that is comfortable and warm. This is very important during the cold weather months when you count on your boiler to work as it should. But boilers can run inefficiently and wear out, meaning you will need to replace your boiler. Here are a few tell-tale signs that may indicate it’s time to replace your current boiler with a new one.

Your Boiler Fails to Produce Heat Rapidly

One of the most obvious signs that your boiler may need to be replaced is if it is not producing heat as quickly as it used to. A modern boiler can produce heat on-demand but if this doesn’t happen, your boiler may need to be replaced. At the very least, you should have your boiler inspected and maintained to find out why it’s producing heat more slowly.

Your Boiler is More than 15 Years Old

The average lifespan of a modern boiler is 15 years. However, with regular servicing and maintenance, boilers can last longer. If your boiler is approaching the age of 15, you may want to do some budgeting so you can buy a new one soon.

Your Boiler Needs Regular Repairs

If your boiler is giving you problems wherein you are regularly having it checked and repaired, the chances are it’s time to replace it with a new one. Older boilers typically need a a good deal of maintenance and/or repairs in order to simply continue doing their job. It would be far more cost-effective to replace your ageing boiler with a new one compared to having to continually pay a professional to repair and maintain the boiler you have now.

Your House Isn’t As Warm as You’d Like it To Be

Are your radiators feeling cooler than they used to? Does your boiler keep turning on and off? Then you are most likely wasting energy and paying higher energy bills while you are feeling uncomfortable. If you were to replace your boiler with a new one, you would feel the difference immediately.

Your Boiler is Making Odd Noises

If you are hearing strange noises coming from your boiler like clunking and banging sounds, there could be a number of factors causing this ranging from a pump that’s not running right to a blocked heat exchanger.  Older boilers that haven’t been maintained well and which must work harder to give off heat often make a variety of sounds.
